I”ve been super sick for a short time, a little bit sick for a long time, and tired most of the time. Just starting to get myself back!

Back On-Line September 3, 2009
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I haven’t quite been feeling myself lately and wasn’t really motivated to write. I’ll be brief…….just had my 34th birthday. It was great and I don’t really feel that old. Spent the weekend shopping for a new bed (king size!!!) and shampooing the carpet in our bedroom. Dennis is finally tired of me kicking him all the time. We have the new mattress and are LOVING it!!!!! Best thing we ever did. I’ve heard that a king size bed can save a marriage and I believe it. Dennis made me a grilled lobster tail dinner and it was delish. He’s quite the adventurous chef now. He was inspired from Top Chef Masters and Rick Bayless. We’re repainting our bedroom this weekend to match the new Vera Wang comforter I got at Kohls on sale for $78 from $389. Yeah, what a deal!!! I was super impressed with my bargain hunting skills. I’ll post pics in a couple weeks once we get the new bed too. I want to create a spa-like feel in the room. I definitely need to relax!!
Ant Update and New Garden Pics July 21, 2009
I wanted to let everyone know that somehow the ants have mysteriously disappeared. Either the sugar water/borax solution worked or the borax I sprinkled outside worked….or maybe both. In either case, I am thrilled! Try some borax concoctions if you have problems. I also used it this weekend to clean the shower floor and it worked brilliantly! I used it for the toliet cleaning as well. It’s pretty cheap and works for many uses. I had to get it at Target – HEB didn’t have it.
I thought it had been a while since I uploaded new garden pics, so here they are. First is a shot of the first storm cloud we’ve seen in months. We didn’t get any rain, though. We’re trying to keep everything alive, and luckily most of our plants are low-water use. Enjoy!

Only two ants saw their demise from the borax sugarwater concoction. Guess I’ll be trying something else.
Shocking Revelation June 13, 2009
It may come as a shock to several people, but I was the bulldog mascot for my high school my sophomore year in college. Many have heard, but none have seen. I thought it was time to break the silence. My father-in-law, Steve, will really appreciate this. I started out inthe pep squad my freshman year, then mascot, then cheerleader my junior year, then misfit my senior year. I even attended mascot camp at Southwest Texas State (now Texas State). Nothing like prancing around in a full furry outfit and walking up the steep hills in August!
It was a lot of fun and I learned to do many tricks with my big padded head. I even had little fans that wrote me fan mail. I think I gave it up because after the football games, the guys were not too interested in seeing a fully soaked and sweaty (not to mention smelly) chick.
Hot weather blues June 9, 2009
So the reason I haven’t posted anything lately is that our A/C went out last Thursday evening and it has been a nice warm little oven in our house. It really made the weekend fun! Our office was one of the most toasty rooms, so we tried to stay in the living room, outside or at the movies at much as possible. We escaped to my sister’s house as well for our Grandmother’s birthday celebration. Our unit is supposed to be getting worked on as we speak. It ended up that our compressor was still under manufacturer’s warranty, so it only cost us the labor (and 4 hot and sticky days). Anyway, I am extremely excited to get home this evening to a nice cool house and watch some tv!
